Finally!!

Well, this plant is called Bloodroot. I planted it 2 years ago and this Spring is the first time it has come up! It's a woodland plant found from Florida to Canada. The flowers appear in early Spring and last until some time in April. The leaves come next and last the rest of the year. The root color ranges from orange to red hence the name of the plant, Bloodroot.

I've got some more flowers up. Here are some tulips that are hidden behind a shrub, a Hellebore and a Pulmonaria plant. There are a lot more that should be hope in the next couple of weeks.

Fooled you!

Well, it felt like Spring was on the way. It was 41 degrees yesterday and everything frozen started melting and just like always, today it was back down in the lower twenties and a few snow flurries are due to arrive some time tonight. Here's a picture of the snow as of Saturday night. I think the shrubs against the front porch under the snow are coming out this year. More on that subject later on.

And so it begins!

Starting a gardening blog sounds like a good thing to do while I sit here in the dead of winter, snow everywhere with the temperature at a balmy 18 degrees. I've started thinking about warm weather, getting outside and digging in the dirt. Think Spring, it will be here before you know it!!
